Legal
Privacy Policy
Effective date:
Maverick Voice is built bring-your-own-key first. The desktop app sends your audio directly to the AI provider you configure — never through us, because we run no servers for it. This policy explains, plainly, what does and does not happen to your data.
01The short version
- We have no servers for your dictation. Your voice never reaches Maverick. It travels from the app on your Mac straight to the provider whose key you entered (for example Groq, OpenAI, or OpenRouter).
- Your API keys stay on your device, encrypted in the macOS Keychain via Apple's
safeStorage. We cannot read them. - Your transcript history lives in a local SQLite database on your machine. It is never uploaded to us.
- No account, no sign-up, no telemetry from the app. The marketing website uses anonymized Vercel Analytics and nothing else.
02Who this policy covers
"Maverick Voice", "Maverick", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the Maverick Voice product and its maker, Malhar Ujawane. This policy applies to two distinct things, which are treated very differently:
- The desktop application you install on macOS (and, soon, Windows).
- The website at getmaverick.sh, including these legal pages.
Where a section applies to only one of them, we say so explicitly.
03How your voice data flows
This is the most important section, so it is the most detailed. Maverick is a local, bring-your-own-key tool. When you press your hotkey and speak:
- Audio is captured on your device and sent directly from the app to the speech-to-text provider you configured (Groq Whisper today), authenticated with your API key.
- If you have AI auto-formatting enabled, the resulting transcript is sent directly from the app to the AI provider you chose (OpenAI or OpenRouter), again with your key.
- The formatted text is returned to the app and typed at your cursor. A copy is stored in your local history database on your machine.
At no point does this audio, transcript, or formatted text pass through a Maverick server. We do not operate, host, or proxy any inference infrastructure for the app. Your data is governed by the privacy policy and terms of whichever provider you point your keys at — please review theirs, since your usage is a direct relationship between you and them.
04API keys and local storage
The app needs your provider API keys to function. We treat them as the sensitive credentials they are:
- Keys are stored encrypted in the macOS Keychain through Electron's
safeStorageAPI, which is backed by the operating system's secure enclave / login keychain. They are never written to plaintext config files and never transmitted to us. - Your transcript history, usage counts, personal dictionary, and snippets are stored in a local SQLitedatabase inside the app's application- support directory on your device.
- Deleting the app, clearing its data, or removing entries from within the app removes this data from your machine. Because none of it was ever uploaded to us, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
05Website analytics
The website at getmaverick.sh uses Vercel Analytics in its privacy-friendly, anonymized mode. This measures aggregate page views and performance so we can understand which pages are useful. It is the only analytics or tracking on the site.
- Vercel Analytics does not use cookies and does not build a cross-site profile of you. It records coarse, anonymized signals such as page path, referrer, device type, and approximate country.
- We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, session-replay tools, fingerprinting, or any third-party marketing trackers.
- The purchase flow is handled by our payment processor on its own checkout pages; payment-card details are entered there and are never seen or stored by us. Refer to that processor's privacy policy for how card data is handled.
06What we do not collect
To be unambiguous, Maverick does not:
- Create accounts or require you to register, log in, or give us an email to use the app.
- Send any app telemetry, crash analytics, usage events, or feature pings to us.
- Upload, copy, or retain your audio, transcripts, dictionary, or snippets to any Maverick-controlled server.
- Sell, rent, or share personal data with advertisers or data brokers. We have nothing to sell.
07Children
Maverick Voice is a productivity tool intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app collects no personal data on our side, this is largely moot — but if you believe a child has provided information to us through the website, contact us and we will address it.
08Your rights and control
Because your dictation data lives only on your device and we hold no account for you, you are already in control: you can view, export (SQLite is an open, portable format), and delete your history and settings at any time from within the app or by removing its data directory.
For the limited anonymized website analytics, you may use your browser's Do-Not-Track / privacy settings or a content blocker; since the data is anonymized and not tied to an identity, there is no per-user record for us to retrieve or erase. If you have a specific request under a law that applies to you (such as the GDPR or the DPDP Act in India), email us and we will respond in good faith.
09Changes to this policy
If the product changes in a way that affects this policy — for example, if we ever add an optional cloud feature — we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected here before the corresponding feature ships. Continued use of the app or website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
